What is sandblasting?

Sandblasting (also known as grit blasting, shot blasting, media blasting, blast cleaning) is an abrasive blasting process where a stream of abrasive sandblasting media is propelled at high velocity against a surface to either clean, smooth, roughen, or shape it.

Why use sandblasting?

Sandblasting is an extremely effective method to clean and remove unwanted finishes, expose underlying surfaces or even create a distressed look on surfaces such as wood, brick, stone and metal, allowing any surface to be prepared for refinishing, free of all contaminants.

Examples include removing unwanted surfaces such as paint or render during a house restoration, removing rust from motor vehicles and heavy plant machinery, removing very dark varnish from wood, exposing stone walls inside and outside a house or building, cleaning wooden beams, cleaning cast iron fire inserts, removing graffiti and much more.

You can see some of the projects we've worked on in our gallery.

Health and safety

Health and safety is of the utmost importance to us. In the UK it is illegal to use most common forms of sand for abrasive blasting due to the risk of silicosis (a potentially fatal lung disease), special equipment and abrasive blasting media plus our professional expertise ensure the safety of everyone.
